Congress can stop Trump from building a wall and increasing detention & deportations. Congress has “the power of the purse,” which means they can decide whether or not to fund the $3 billion supplemental that President Trump requested for fiscal years 2017 for a deportation force, border wall, and expanded detention. Trump’s budget proposals would cut funding for education, housing, school lunch programs, and poverty-focused international assistance, and spend billions of dollars to dramatically expand immigration enforcement, targeting our undocumented community members, detaining children and separating families.
