DACA Recipients: Blessing of Home and Strengthening Our Faith in God

Washington, DC – Diverse religions practice the blessing of home, the center for our families and sense of security. In a Facebook Live event on Wednesday, March 18th, at noon eastern, DACA recipients from Muslim and Christian faiths will talk about their spiritual beliefs and what “home” means to them, as they await the Supreme Court’s decision that will determine their futures. Faith leaders from Muslim, Jewish, and Christian traditions will also speak about what it means to be faithful in God in our call for human justice. The conversation will be joined with music by Elena Lacayo of Elena & Los Fulanos.

Participants in the event include: Peniel Ibe, AFSC (moderator); Imam Ali Siddiqui, Muslim Institute-Interfaith Studies & Understanding and Congregation Action Network; Sister Simone Campbell and Giovana Oaxaca (DACA recipient), NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice; Rabbi Esther Lederman, Union for Reform Judaism; Sanaa Abrar and Tasneem Al-Michael (DACA recipient), United We Dream; and Noel Anderson, Church World Service. Elena Lacayo of Elena & Los Fulanos will perform music during the event.
