Residents of Virginia, including communities of faith, want Congress to pass a path to citizenship. 915 individuals and 195 faith-based organizations sent a letter to Congress calling for a path to citizenship by any means necessary, including 15 faith leaders and two faith-based organization in Virginia: Just Neighbors (Annandale) and LUCHA Ministries (Fredericksburg). Virginia Governor Ralph Northam recently urged Congress and President Biden to pass a path to citizenship for the 140,000 immigrant essential workers in Virginia, 2,700 of whom are DACA recipients and 6,700 of whom are TPS holders.

Supporters also include Nevada policymakers: in a recent letter, three Nevada mayors urged Congress to pass a path to citizenship for DACA recipients and “Dreamers.” There are approximately 80,000 undocumented immigrant essential workers in Nevada, who make up more than 8% of the state’s essential workforce.
Residents of Minnesota, including communities of faith, want Congress to pass a path to citizenship. 915 faith leaders and 195 faith-based organizations sent a letter to Congress calling for a path to citizenship by any means necessary, including 33 faith leaders in Minnesota. As part of recent nationwide May Day events, Minnesotans marched in Minneapolis to demonstrate their support for a path to citizenship. There are approximately 40,000 undocumented immigrant essential workers in Minnesota in need of a path to citizenship.
Under a Trump-era policy, the Biden administration continues to expel thousands of people back to danger, contributing to additional humanitarian challenges along northern Mexico, where many faith-based organizations and NGOs have been rendering aid. In a statement, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees appealed to the U.S. government to lift Title 42 and restore access to asylum. Five hundred people of faith and organizations sent a concerned letter to President Biden urging him to put an end to “Title 42 expulsions.”
