No ICE deaths in our name.  

In a single week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents shot and killed two men who immigrated to this country to take care of their families. Their deaths were entirely needless and preventable. Their inherent human dignity was denied; their loved ones are left to cry in pain.   

Sisters of Mercy Dale Jarvis and Patricia Pora put it best when they wrote, in the Portland Press-Herald, "This violence must stop."

Today, the Interfaith Immigration Coalition launched a new Action Toolkit to help you call for an end to all deaths at the hands of ICE and the Border Patrol. Whether it's deaths in immigration jail or deaths due to agents' extreme use of force, no one should be killed for being an immigrant. 

Congress' decision to fund these agencies at record rates, instead of spending our tax dollars on programs that help our communities, makes them complicit. It's our responsibility to use our voices to tell them what we demand. 

Use this Action Toolkit to:

  • Host a vigil to honor the lives of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, Johan Sebastián, and all those killed by ICE and the Border Patrol. 

  • Send a message to Congress by signing the faith leader and organizational sign-on letters (deadline July 31).  

  • Contact Congress using the CWS or Global Refuge action alerts.

  • Spread the message on social media; and more!

Over the last year, U.S. cities have looked more like war zones than communities of safety and joy. Too many legislators dismiss ongoing trauma as isolated incidents. Your story of impact, conviction, and moral clarity can help change that. Add your voice to the Friends Committee on National Legislation's migration storytelling project and push back against congressional apathy and political convenience.

If you have witnessed or heard of immigration enforcement at places of worship, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, food banks, courthouses, or other sensitive locations in your communities, FCNL wants to hear from you. Share your story through their Migration Storytelling Webpage.

It takes a few minutes with simple instructions and an example to guide you. FCNL will use submissions in congressional visits and public advocacy, so lawmakers cannot ignore what is happening on the ground. Congress knows that creating guidelines for enforcement at these essential spaces is a sensible and impactful reform. But congressional action depends on local, personal stories from the communities that Members of Congress represent. They provide powerful evidence of a policy's ground-level impact.

Leadership may have changed at the DHS Secretary-level, and the news cycle has churned on, but we know that our communities will not be safe until Congress writes real protections into law. Make sure they can't look away. Share your story today.
