Lament, Hope, Action on June 28. Will You Be There?

As the United States’ 250th anniversary approaches, we face a choice: celebrate our highest ideals — while ignoring the pain and contradictions in our history — or tell the truth about both. On June 28, we will gather at 5 p.m. in Washington, D.C. for a service of Lament and Hope, celebrating immigrants’ contributions to this nation and envisioning a new chapter that recognizes the dignity of all people.

Lament, Hope, Action on June 28. Will You Be There?
Dear friends,

As the United States' 250th anniversary approaches, we face a choice: celebrate our highest ideals — while ignoring the pain and contradictions in our history — or tell the truth about both. On June 28, we will gather at 5 p.m. in Washington, D.C. for a service of Lament and Hope, celebrating immigrants' contributions to this nation and envisioning a new chapter that recognizes the dignity of all people.

This gathering is hosted by the Latino Christian National Network and other Christian partners, but it is open to everyone. And it will take all of us — people from all faiths — to move this country toward greater compassion, and ensure we are all afforded the dignity and belonging we deserve.

RSVP to join us on June 28, and arrive at 5 p.m. ET.

If you can't make it to DC, tune in to watch the livestream at 5:30 p.m. ET.

The United States' 250th anniversary is a moment to take stock of what it means to be an "American" in the United States. What are our shared values? Family unity, human dignity, belonging, and the well-being of all come to mind.

But we're living in a time when families are being separated due to unjust laws and policies. When neighbors are living in fear. The prophet Isaiah calls us to "lift up our voice like a trumpet" (Isaiah 58:1). As terror and uncertainty reverberate across the country, people of faith are called to speak with courage and compassion and say "immigrants belong here."

Join members of the Interfaith Immigration Coalition and other friends at the Latino Christian National Network's Lament and Hope Service on June 28 at 5 p.m. ET, in person in Washington, DC, or virtually at 5:30 p.m. ET via the livestream.

RSVP today and invite a friend to join you!
